Inscription reads: In memory of Thomas Charter who died the 30th December 1837 aged 66 years. Also Mary wife of the above who died 14th April 1842 aged 74 years.

You will no doubt notice a discrepancy in the year on both of the inscriptions although in the case of Thomas Charter this is explained by his death being just prior to the end of the year, but something is wrong in the case of his wife. According to the register the dates do fall chronologically in line. (Was it the stone mason?)
